Today, I have a few questions for you.  I would like you to seriously consider your answers, and be able to defend them.

           1.  Do you BELIEVE that waterboarding is TORTURE and should not be used against TERRORISTS??

Here is an aticle from the NY Times that describes the process that has been banned by President Obama.  There have been a number of CIA Directors, from both sides (Democrat and Republican), that have stated that these techniques worked and actionable intelligence was obtained, after all other processes were exploited.

Also, I am ONLY asking if these techniques should be used on TERRORISTS, not foreign fighters.  Foreign fighters can be IDENTIFIED on the battlefield and would be subject to the Geneva Convention rules.  Terrorists do NOT wear a uniform and “hide” among INNOCENT civilians.

           2.  Do you believe that the recent rescue of  Captain Phillips, was right and the Navy Snipers were heroes??

Here is an article from CNN.  This action was AUTHORIZED by President Obama on TWO different occasions.  In this “situation”, President Obama GAVE the order to KILL three “pirates”, who were trying to provide for their families.  He gave this order to KILL three individuals, in order to save one AMERICAN captain.

In my OPINION, I believe that WATERBOARDING should be allowed IN EXTREME conditions.  The recent report states that America has only used these techniques on five individuals in the eight years that we have been at WAR against terrorism.  That sounds to me like the Government was DOING it’s JOB.  As a side note, America subjects MANY of it’s Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines to waterboarding, to show them waht COULD happen to them if they are captured by the ENEMY.  In other words, the ENEMIES of the United States WILL use these techniques, and worse.

Second, I believe that the Navy Snipers ARE heroes and they have just shown how highly trained they are.  America’s enemies SHOULD be afraid.  I believe that President Obama DID the right thing in this situation.

Back to my questions, Obama feels that waterboarding should be against the rules, while at the same time, Obama feels that it is OK to kill individuals without warning.  HUH???  Does ANYONE else see a problem with these positions??

In summary, according to President Obama, it is OK to kill someone to save one American life, but it is NOT OK to make a terrorist uncomfortable if it could save MANY lives.

What do YOU think?

Obama Administration to limit breathing

April 17, 2009

If you have not heard the EPA is attempting to put limits on Carbon Dioxide.  Here is a link to the EPA website detailing their “rigorous” analysis.  Here is the part I like:

“EPA’s proposed endangerment finding is based on rigorous, peer-reviewed scientific analysis of six gases – carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride – that have been the subject of intensive analysis by scientists around the world. The science clearly shows that concentrations of these gases are at unprecedented levels as a result of human emissions, and these high levels are very likely the cause of the increase in average temperatures and other changes in our climate.”

And some articles at Fox News, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

This means that if YOU breathe too much, you are contributing to the unprecedented levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.  All of those cardio workouts that you do, must stop, as they increase your rate of breathing.

I also like the last sentence, “are very likely the cause of the increase in average temperatures”.  Please, do not look at the temperatures for the LAST decade.  Just because temperatures have been declining and ARE projected to decline for the next 25 years, by some scientists, does not mean that we are wrong.  I do not know, for a fact, that global warming is or is not happening.  I tend to be a skeptic, and when the leading global alarmist, Al Gore and supporters, REFUSE to debate the issue, with facts, I will lean against whatever they say.

“Permit” needed to protest?

April 15, 2009

I wonder what the Founding Fathers would have thought about the requirement to obtain a “permit” (from the government) in order to protest (the government)?
Wait a minute…..Did they HAVE a “permit”? Are you trying to tell me that they would have called off the Boston Tea Party if they had known they were not following the RULES.

Speaking of “permits”, I wonder how much the “permit” (read tax, imposed by the government) COST??

Read “How much do YOU pay in taxes?” for more “taxes” from our government.

What about TAXES on Dividends?

April 10, 2009

Who believes that the tax that the government imposes on DIVIDEND income is only your income tax rate OR a long term gain tax rate???

For a simple example, lets assume that your dividends, that are received from a company stock, are taxed at your income tax rate.  We would argue that the company, that YOU are an owner of, has already paid corporate income taxes before any distribution.  This means that YOU already paid a TAX on earnings.

Sounds simple, right??  What about any “taxes” that the company has paid BEFORE earnings are calculated??  These include, business licenses (perhaps in EVERY jurisdiction) that they conduct business, taxes for FUEL used in any transportation of product, etc.

How about a pharmaceutical company??  How much do you think they pay the government to register, test, sell the drugs that make your life better??

We have NOT included any compliance expenses in our calculations.  These would include UNTOLD numbers of accountants, lawyers and staff REQUIRED to fill out FORMS for the government.

Another Obama nominee with, you guessed it, TAX Problems

April 1, 2009

Kathleen Sebelius has had, admitted, tax problems to the tune of almost $8,000.  Another President Obama nominee that does NOT have to pay any penalties for “minor (and) unintentional” errors.

How much do YOU pay in taxes??

April 1, 2009

Before you read any further, I would like to ask you to think about your answer.  How much do YOU pay in taxes???

Here is the Wikipedia definition of taxes.

We define taxes as ANY amount of money that we are compelled to pay the Government.  The government/politicians (past and present) use many different words to define what they TAKE from us, the citizens.  These range from taxes to fees, fines, levies, tolls, etc.

Here is a chart that we have compiled that gives a rough estimation for the amount of taxes that people pay per state.  We have done two cases, the first is a person with a $30,000 Adjusted Gross Income, and the second is a person with a $100,000 adjusted Gross Income.  For a more detailed breakdown of our calculations and where we arrived at the rates click here.Tax Rates

To keep this simple we have assumed a Single Tax Filer and we are not going to include the people in this country that, according to the press, do not pay any(?) taxes.

This is where we would like to start the discussion.

As you can see our basic calculations show that someone making $30,000 can expect to pay a minimum 26.86% in Wyoming, up to a maximum (when we say maximum, we mean in our calculations, this does not include PASS THROUGH taxes) 46.34% in New Jersey.  That means that for every $1 that you earn in Wyoming you will pay 27 cents to the government.  Another way of looking at this number, you have to work until the middle of March before you earn any money for yourself.  In New Jersey, for every $1 that you earn you will pay 46 cents.  You have to work into June before you earn any money for yourself.

These calculations are CONSERVATIVE, meaning that we feel any errors that we have made, actually produce a lower tax rate than reality.  We have assumed, for instance, that this tax payer never buys alcohol or cigarettes.  The taxes on these products is ASTRONOMICAL.  Also, we have not included in our calculations the matching amounts (federal tax and medicare) that an employer pays, on the workers behalf.  This amounts to another 7.65% of the filer’s earnings.  Just add it to the above numbers.  These taxes are paid by the employer, so they are a part of doing business and are included in the final price of products.  Ultimately this tax is paid by the final consumer.  Just because we have not included it in our calculation, does NOT mean that this filer does not pay it.  Another tax that is not included is any telecommunications taxes or fees.  If you have a telephone, you pay something.  If you use the internet, you pay something.

How much of what you pay for any product, can be attributed to a tax?  Did the company, that you purchased the product from, have any shipping?  They paid tax on any fuel used in transportation, and have included that amount in the final purchase price you paid.  I guarantee it.  If they do not include it, they are operating at a loss and will not be in business long.  This is basic and not the only example of taxes that are PASSED THROUGH to the final consumer.

How much do you think you should pay in Taxes?

Do you feel that it should take 60,000 pages, of Tax Code, to compel people to pay these taxes?

Write your Representatives and Senators, both local and federal.  This is the only way we can change the status quo.
