Justice in the U.S. Military???

Let me start this post by first stating that I respect and admire everyone who has worn, wears or will wear a uniform serving in the U.S. military.  The job that they do is difficult and dangerous, and they are not compensated, monetarily, enough.  With that said, I want anyone to tell me if the current situation in the military is as it should be???

First here is an article from the Navy Times, concerning three Navy SEALS charged with abusing a TERRORIST.  I would like to highlight a line in the article:

One defense attorney said they had refused to accept non-judicial punishment (this “they” refers to the three Navy SEALS, my note), administrative actions that some in the military may consider as an admission of guilt.

And here is an article from Fox News, and here is a highlight:

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called a captain’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

So, to translate for you, these three HEROES refused to be disciplined for doing their job well and requested a court-martial hearing.  If they had taken the easy path, they would have had a large negative mark on their records, that would have affected their promotions, assignments, etc. in the future, FOREVER.  Their commanding officers, all the way up to the commander-in-chief, President Obama, wanted them to take the easy path.

In contrast, here is an article in MSNBC concerning Maj. Hassan (the Fort Hood murderer).

So, let me get this straight.  IF you do your job as you were trained, and you do it well, you will be disciplined or court martialed.  But, IF you do your job poorly and write about shooting your fellow soldiers, you will promoted to MAJOR, at least.

What can WE do about this situation???

P.S. – Thankfully, today, the last of the three Navy Seals was NOT court martialed.  I am proud that they stood up for what was RIGHT, and they were found to not have done anything wrong.  Thank you for your courageous service.
