Foreign Contributions???

Here is an article from Foxnews and here is a similar article from the Wall Street Journal, that detail the One’s accusations about Foreign Donors influencing american politics.  This is what is making Americans SICK of the political parties in Washington DC.  Seriously, did The Anointed One just accuse the opposing party of using Foreign Money for the political process in the United States of America?  I just want to make sure I am hearing Him correctly.

The following is a quote from the Foxnews article referenced above:

The Chamber of Commerce accusation apparently stemmed from a report last week by the Center for American Progress-affiliated Think Progress. The report claimed the Chamber was generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in foreign money every year and questioned whether those funds were going toward its multimillion-dollar political operations.  But the Chamber adamantly denies this, saying foreign money is separated from its U.S. political activity. The Chamber said in a statement Sunday that the DNC ad is “ridiculous and false.” Rove also said the White House cannot back up its accusation. Asked about the charge, Axelrod put the onus on groups like the Chamber of Commerce to prove foreign money is not influencing the election. “No one knows where the money’s coming from,” he said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “Why not simply disclose where this money is from and then all these questions will be answered?”  (my emphasis)

I am simply amazed that the President (through Axelrod) can honestly accuse anyone else of raising foreign donations, when it has been documented that this is what HE did during HIS presidential campaign.  If anyone is wondering here is an article from the Washington Post in 2008, detailing some of HIS fundraising.  To use Axelrods words, “I put the onus on The President to PROVE that foreign money did NOT influence his campaign, why not simply disclose where his donations came from!”

Then I read the article from the Wall Street Journal, the following is a quote:

That didn’t stop President Obama from raising the issue in a Maryland speech last week, saying that “groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections.” Within hours of the ThinkProgress report, the bully boys at MoveOn.org asked the Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation of the Chamber. In a letter to the Federal Election Commission, Minnesota Senator Al Franken expressed his profound concern that “foreign corporations are indirectly spending significant sums to influence American elections through third-party groups.”

Which got me thinking.  I think this is a great conversation.  I think that we need to be sure that NO foreign funds are being used by ANYONE in the political arena.  I think that we need more transparency concerning political donations and their origins.  I hope that we can all agree, that foreign donations to our political process may NOT have America’s best interests in mind.

To that end I would ask that MoveOn.org use their influence and join me, and ask the Department of Justice for a criminal investigation of the AFL-CIO union, its political fundraising (most come from dues paying members), and its influence in past elections.  As we all KNOW, there are some members of the AFL-CIO that are not in the USA legally.  By definition, this means that THEY are foreign.  Since the are paying UNION DUES, and these dues are commingled with all dues, it is from these dues that the AFL-CIO is making political donations to current and past races.  We can now see that the AFL-CIO IS using FOREIGN money to INFLUENCE american politics.  I feel that the AFL-CIO, and all other unions, need to document their members status and disclose the information, and what political causes are supported by their foreign money.
