This one comes from the great state of New York. This makes me so frustrated that I am not going to write much about it.
Here is a link to the article:
“Nearly 5,000 teachers cashing in on six-figure pensions” – New York Post
And here are some relevant quotes from the article:
“More than 4,100 retired educators received six-figure pensions in 2013.” (That means AT LEAST $100,000. The article states that there are 4,800 people eligible for these pensions, as of 2014.)
“That includes pension king, Edgar McManus, 90, a retired Queens College history professor who took in $561,286 last year, and Madeleine Brennan, 88, who raked in $417,466 last year.”
“More than a dozen OTHER RETIREES receive more than $200,000 per year.”
As a point of reference the Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, you know, the guy responsible for ALL the government of the city, is paid $225,000.
Do you think these school teachers should be “earning” more than the mayor…..IN RETIREMENT??
Should they receive more than $100,000?
