Chicago’s “Top Cop”, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy???

February 19, 2013

Sometimes the lack of thought and critical thinking in America is truly ASTOUNDING!!!

Today, I read an article containing comments from the POLICE SUPERINTENDENT of the 3RD LARGEST MUNICIPAL POLICE FORCE IN THE USA.  I know that New York City is the largest, and I believe that Los Angeles is the second largest (but I can’t guarantee it).  So this guy, Garry McCarthy, is in charge of the police department that is overseeing the MURDER CAPITAL OF THE USA.  I want everyone to understand who this guy is and what HIS JOB IS.  He is in charge of the Police Force.  He tells Chicago’s Finest what to do and how to do it.  I want to make sure that everyone understands that I AM NOT DISPARAGING the police officers or the job that they try and do.  Most police officers are trying to do the right thing and protect the citizens under their care.  When I say most, I suspect that the percentage is in the high 90% range.  Yes there are “bad cops” and when they are found they are hopefully punished.  But, let’s get back to the comments from Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.

Here is the article from Fox News.

Chicago’s top cop likens gun lobby’s influence to corruption

and here is a quote:

““When people say concealed carry, I say Trayvon Martin,” McCarthy said, referring to the Florida teen who was shot and killed last February by a neighborhood watch volunteer, sparking controversy across the country. “I say Trayvon Martin because the answer to guns is not more guns, and just simply putting guns in people’s hands is going to lead to more tragedy.”

I have a couple points that I would like to make about this quote.

     1.  No where in the article, or ANY OF THE GUN CONTROL MEASURES THAT HE IS ADVOCATING, is “concealed carry” mentioned!!  No one has proposed ANY MORE RESTRICTIONS ON CHICAGO’S CONCEALED CARRY LAWS!!!  IF Mr McCarthy thinks that these laws should be changed, then he should propose something.  Note to Mr. McCarthy:  This is called a non-sequitur.

     2.  I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Garry McCarthy, but he may not like the reason that I agree.  I would like to ask “THE POLICE SUPERINTENDENT” if he knows ANYTHING ABOUT THE LAWS OF THE USA, which are a VITAL PART OF HIS JOB DESCRIPTION?  For instance, suspects, or the accused, are PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT, BY A JURY OF HIS PEERS!!!  I have not seen ANYTHING that says George Zimmerman has been found guilty, has he?  Let me start this a different way.  What if, George Zimmerman is found to have DEFENDED HIMSELF FROM A VICIOUS ATTACK, and that IF he did NOT have a weapon with him on that night to PROTECT HIMSELF, he would likely not be with us anymore, because he would have been brutally beaten to death by a punk kid??  What would Mr. McCarthy say about “concealed carry” then?  Is he going to RETRACT ALL OF HIS STUPID COMMENTS??

     3.  Also, I would like to ask Mr. McCarthy, if this is the type of thought that he WANTS from his police force??  If so, he NEEDS TO REMOVED FROM THIS POSITION IMMEDIATELY!!

     4.  Just as an observation, I think that from all the evidence of MURDER in Chicago DAILY, that Mr. McCarthy is a complete FAILURE and should be fired with cause.  Note to Mr. McCarthy: there are 1,000’s of cities in this country that have LESS RESTRICTIVE gun laws than Chicago, and they seem to not have your issues.  I would venture that the reason IS because they have LESS RESTRICTIVE GUN LAWS, not more restrictive.

and finally one more quote from Mr. McCarthy and then my question:

McCarthy backs banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, requiring background checks for anyone who buys a gun, mandatory reporting of the sale, transfer, loss or theft of a gun and mandatory minimum prison sentences for people convicted of illegally possessing a gun.”

Would ANY OF THOSE NEW “LAWS” stop the rampant MURDER in the City that he has sworn to protect??

I think that the answer to the question is a resounding NO, let me know what you think.
