The DOJ and Tax Fraud!!!

March 30, 2012

UPDATE:  It appears as if the following story about Gov. Haley was false, as reported at a new article from the Daily Caller.  Anything that relates to Gov. Haley below can be ignored.  The questions for Obama and Holder STILL stand!!

Here is a great article, in the Daily Caller, about “possible” charges being filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), run by uber-liberal Eric Holder of Fast and Furious and dropping charges against th New Black Panthers (that had already been found GUILTY!!) fame, against Governor Haley of South Carolina.

First, let me comment on this case:  IF Mrs. Haley has committed Tax Fraud, then indict her, take her to court, and if found guilty penalize her accordingly!

Second, I have a question for Eric Holder:  I am encouraged that you are “vigorously pursuing” tax cheats, when are charges going to be filed against Tim Geithner, Charlie Rangel, Tam Daschle, etc.?  Or are you only interested in alleged Republican cheats??

I guess I should ask President Obama, now that Haley appears to have the qualifications, what Cabinet position will she be nominated for??

Rangel to pay $23,000 to NOT admit guilt…

March 27, 2012

It appears that Rep. Rangel, as discussed here and here, is going to NOT admit that he is GUILTY, BUT he is going to pay $23,000, to make the accusations go away!!!

Just so everyone understands, here is an article from FoxNews.

“Congressman Charles Rangel and his campaign have agreed to pay $23,000 stemming from his use of a rent-stabilized apartment in New York City as a campaign office.”

I have a few questions:

1)  Why does the Federal Election Commission accept settlement of this amount?  It is OBVIOUS that Rep. Rangel BROKE the LAW!!  Here is another quote from the article:

“Rangel moved his campaign office out of the apartment soon after the leasing arrangement became public.”

He KNEW it was wrong and only changed after it became public knowledge.

2.  When are the fines, imposed on the law breakers, going to come DIRECTLY FROM THE LAW BREAKERS??  I do not want his company, his campaign, his benefactors, etc. to pay the fine, I want the perpeTRAITORS to face the penalty.  This goes for Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac prosecutions as well.  Why should the Tax Payer be responsible for the fines of any of those executives??

3)  Is $23,000 enough??  How much money did Rangel save by using this apartment as his office??  IF he saved $1,000/month and had the office for 20 years of his 22 years of “service”, that would mean that he saved  $216,000 plus interest.  Why would $23,000 be a deterrent??  (UPDATE: This $1,000/month was just my estimate.  The Daily Caller has information about the rent.  Turns out it was a $1,070/month difference!!!  IF he used it for two years it was profitable for him to pay the penalty and STEAL this unit from a deserving tenant.)

4)  How are Rep. Rangel’s constituents, that were unable to rent this apartment because he was using it, that were HARMED going to be reimbursed??  They had to pay a higher rent somewhere else!!  How are they going to be compensated??

Personally, I am sick and tired of these settlements.  This case is obvious, take it to court and find Rangel GUILTY in a court of law.  Then he will be UNABLE to weasel out of his responsibility to ADMIT HIS GUILT!!  Prosecute the CRIMINALS and ENFORCE the LAW!!!  MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.  If we cannot hold our elected representatives to the law, why should ordinary Americans respect the law??

This looks like “pork spending” from “pork spending”…

August 5, 2010

Are you kidding me??

When is the American public going to say enough is enough?

Here is the article, from the Washington Post, that details how “Government Motors” is now funding Politicians’ Pet Projects.  It is not as if the Congressional Black Caucus does not have enough corruption perception problems (Rangel and Waters) as detailed here and here.  Why is it that IF the liars thiefs corrupt Politians can not insert their pet projects into a bill that they pass, as an “ear mark”, they think it is better to have another tax payer funded project, do it??  Stop the madness!!!

At least “Government Motors” could pay US back first!!

Finally, Rangel will have to answer questions!!!

July 22, 2010

Finally, the corrupt, lying, thief, Rangel has been charged with ethics violations.  Now we can only hope that the trial is fair.  I’m still not holding my breath.

And now that that investigation is finished they should have time for Dodd, Murtha, Pelosi, etc.

Using Reconciliation

March 3, 2010

Should the Democrats use reconciliation in order to enact the ObamaCare nightmare?

It is looking like they might actually be considering this scenario.  In my opinion, they can go for it.  Here is a possibility that they might not have considered.

They pass ObamaCare….yeahhhh.  Then it gets to exist as it is for about 8 months.  Assuming that the reconciliation conference can iron out the differences between the House and Senate almost immediately (which I doubt).  Then we (the American public that does NOT want this government take over of our choices) get to vote in the 2010 elections.  I predict that many candidates will step forward and their whole campaign slogan will be, “I will vote to repeal ObamaCare”.  I predict that a large percentage of these candidates WILL get elected, and then ObamaCare will be repealed faster than President Obama can sign an order to close Gauntanamo (LOL).

So let me repeat, I hope that any elected official, that wants to commit political suicide for NO gain, does so.

Obama gives Karzai Corruption Ultimatum

November 4, 2009

This article has me thinking about irony and a lack of character at the highest levels of government.

How can Obama, with a straight face, tell another leader to take care of the corruption in their government, when HE, “the anointed ONE”, cannot take care of the corruption in his own, including himself??

If you have not been paying attention, search ACORN, SEIU, Rangel, Dodd, Frank, Geithner, ethics investigation.  There are many more, but this should be a good start.

The TAX CODE is BROKEN

March 27, 2009

I would like to point out that there seems to be a serious problem with the income tax code of the United States.

taxes-3

First, we have very prominent people (Rahm Emanuel – Current White House Chief of Staff, Timothy Geithner – Current Treasury Secretary (over sees the entire IRS), Charles Rangel – Current Chairman (that is the HEAD) of the House Ways and Means Committee (the committee that WRITES the TAX LAWS), Tom Daschle – Former Senate Minority Leader, Nancy Killefer – Nominated by President Obama to the post of Office of Management and Budget, Kathleen Sebelius – Nominated by President Obama to be head of Health and Human Services and current Governor of Kansas, Al Franken – Possible Senator, Sarah Palin – Current Governor of Alaska and former Vice-Presidential Candidate, Ron Kirk -nominated as U.S. Trade Representative) and possibly 52,000 “Rich Americans” with accounts with UBS in Switzerland that have FAILED to pay the taxes that they OWE.  This does not include any of the people that are not famous enough to have their names in the media for tax troubles.

taxes-2

Many of the politicians have said that it was an “honest MISTAKE” and this EXCUSE has been accepted by their political friends and the media.  On this point, I do NOT believe that it was an “honest MISTAKE”, I believe that it was deliberate and only came to light because of the positions that they have been appointed to or have taken.

taxes-1

IF they are honest mistakes, these politicians SHOULD have known what the tax laws are.  Tom Daschle, as a former SENATOR (TOP Senator for the minority party), was one of the people that WROTE the tax laws that he did not “understand”.  IF the politicians do not KNOW how to do their own taxes, then their accountants are required to KNOW the tax laws.  Accountants are REQUIRED to be CERTIFIED, hence the CPA (CERTIFIED Public Accountant) designation.

Does anyone believe that these people do their own taxes??  I do NOT.  Maybe it should be a REQUIREMENT of the highest politicians that they should have to do their own taxes, without help.

Second, lets assume that these people made an “honest mistake”, and for this point I will highlight former Senator Tom Daschle.  This is not to say that he is worse than anyone else that cheats makes an “honest mistake” filing their taxes.  Mr. Daschle had to restate his earnings for tax years 2005 to 2007, because these were the years the alleged “mistakes” happened.  OK, not so bad so far.  The BAD part, that makes me so _______ (angry, frustrated, fed up, irate, incensed, etc. – pick your own descriptive word(s)), is that Mr. Daschle was AUDITED, by the IRS, for his tax year 2006.  Let me say that again,  Mr. Daschle was AUDITED, by the IRS, for the tax year 2006, one of the years that “honest mistakes” were made.  What happened after the AUDIT, you ask.

NOTHING, the IRS found NO problems with his taxes.  This tells me that one of three things has happened.  1) the IRS was involved with the “honest mistakes” and allowed them to continue, or 2) the IRS is INCOMPETENT to do their job, or 3) the tax code is soooooo complex that NO ONE can understand it any longer.

If #1 is the case, we better have an independent investigation and people better be going to JAIL and paying substantial fines.

As much as I complain about government and the people that work in government, it is hard for me to believe that the entire IRS is INCOMPETENT.  If #2 is the case then we should DISMANTLE the IRS and make the tax code so simple, so that we do not need them any longer.

Personally, I believe that #3 is the likely culprit.

Also, I have a problem with all of these people making an “honest mistake” and not having to pay any PENALTIES.  It seems to me that the PENALTIES, that the IRS enforces, are entirely arbitrary/subjective and should be eliminated.  This is not “FAIR AND EQUAL” treatment, as dictated in the laws of the United States.  Anyone that has paid penalties should have them refunded.  Write your representatives and senators.

If I had to offer a solution today, I would be in favor of a National Sales Tax.  If you hear people argue that the tax is REGRESSIVE, tell them this can be remedied.  I would argue that the politicians determine a Basic Living Cost.  For this example, I will say $30,000/person/year.  I have picked this number, not because it should be the number, but because it makes the math easy.  I will also say that the National Sales Tax rate be set at 20% (for the same reasons).  If these are the numbers, I say that the Government should then send every person, with a social security number (or a NEW tax number), a check, every month, for $500 ($30,000 x 20% /12 months).  This should cover the taxes for basic living expenses for everyone.  This check should be sent to everyone, and if you are a dependent, then 1/2 your check goes to your caretaker and the other 1/2 gets put into an account for you when you turn 18.  This account could be used for three things only, education, house purchase, or retirement account.  If the minor passes away then this account reverts to the government.  Because it would be beneficial to everyone to make sure the government has your information, this would help solve many other issues (census, voting registration, place of residence, etc.)  I would also make penalties severe.  For instance, if it is proved that you knowingly accepted someone else’s funds, your payments would be permanently suspended.  If you are incarcerated for any crimes, your payments would be suspended for your incarceration.  I am sure that there are other examples.

Let me, and your representatives, know what you think.
