Weekly Jobless Claims…???

May 1, 2014

Sometimes the news propaganda is so blatant that I HAVE TO CALL IT OUT!!!!

This could be funny….IF YOU LIKE SICK AND TWISTED JOKES!!!!

Here is the headline of the day, and this is from Fox News (You know the only “conservative” news source “in the entire world”, the “fair and balanced” network):

Weekly Jobless Claims Rise to 344,000

and here is the quote that is a complete and total mischaracterization of the FACTS, and it is THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE ARTICLE:

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week, but the underlying trend continued to point to improving labor market conditions.” (emphasis added)

Huh???  WTF are they talking about?????

Here is another quote from later in the article:

The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, rose only 3,000 to 320,000.”

Let’s just forget about the gratuitous “only” that is not highlighted.  The 4 week average ROSE 3,000, that means INCREASED.  Got it??  Let’s go back and look at “the underlying trend” that THEY MENTION IN THE FIRST SENTENCE.

Here is last weeks quote:

The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, rose only 4,750 to 316,750.

And the week before quote:

The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, fell 4,750 to 312,000.

Notice that the week after they say that the number rose “ONLY” 4,750, but this week we were not supplied with a fell “ONLY” 4,750.  I wonder why that could be???  I mean it is the SAME AMOUNT.

AND the week before quote:

The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, fell to 316,250 in the week ended April 5, down 4,750 from the previous week.

AND the week before quote:

The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, nudged up 250 to 319,500.

So, over the last month, the 4 week average has had a fall ROSE 500 from 319,500 to 320,000. Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhh!!!!  Now I see “the trend”.  Or we can go back farther, say to the beginning of the One’s ascendancy to the throne, and the trend would be “astronomically” better.  Or we could go back to the beginning of the last President’s reign, and the “trend” would be HORRIBLE, and if we go back further it only looks worse.

Oh, and just to throw more cold water on the subject i have 2 more things; 1. the 500 number does not include the adjustment that have been made to the weekly numbers, that HAVE ALL BEEN INCREASES and 2. the 500 number IS A ROUNDING ERROR, meaning that the number is more or less UNCHANGED, BUT I would be willing to wager that it HAS NOT FALLEN, as this administration is DOING EVERYTHING IT CAN TO MANIPULATE THE NUMBERS TO LOOK THE ABSOLUTE BEST THAT THEY CAN.

If this comes from the news organization that is “trying to tell the truth” how do you think all the obviously biased news sources are spinning it???

We just want THE TRUTH!!!

Initial Claims for Unemployment, the expected Holiday Hangover!!!

January 12, 2012

Last week I said:

“Hey FoxNews, I will wager that this week’s number will be revised UPWARD to at least 375,000!!! “

And this week the news is (from CNBC):

“The Labor Department said Thursday that applications jumped by 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 399,000, the most in six weeks.”

And (from FoxNews):

“Weekly applications rose by 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 399,000, the Labor Department said Thursday”

Let’s see, I have to do some math.  399,000 – 24,000 equals…..carry the one…. 375,000.  OMG, another PERFECT estimate by yours truly.  See, government propagandists statisticians of the NON-Labor Department, it is NOT that difficult!!!  Oh, wait!!  I forgot you guys are trying to make it look better for Dear Leader, and do not care about the TRUTH.  My bad!!  I still say that I could INCREASE the accuracy of your forecasts, for a price that is.

More from FoxNews:

“Applications for weekly unemployment benefits spiked last week, largely because companies let go of thousands of workers after the holiday season.”

As a side note, FoxNews, it is only a “spike” if the next number is lower (closer to 375,000 would be a symmetrical “spike”).  Would you want to wager that next week the number is HIGHER than 399,000??  And remember what I said a month ago:

Why am I so CRITICAL with the title of this post??  Well, it goes something like this.  The month is December.  Every year businesses hire more people (TEMPORARILY) to cover for the holiday rush of retail activity.  Did you know that most of a retailers profit comes during the holidays, and the rest of the year is lucky to be break even?  Do not forget the Christmas Tree lots, the wrapping services, the holiday light installations, etc.  These TEMPORARY jobs remove people from the unemployed list.  I will hold off any final judgement on the sustainability of the employment rate until after the new year.  Hopefully, the unemployment rate continues to improve.  At this point I am a skeptic!!”

Looks like I was correct in being SKEPTICAL!!  This week I will wager that next week this 399,000 number for Initial Claims gets revised, UPWARD AGAIN, to 403,000, which is above the TOXIC 400,000 level!!  Any takers??

Steve Liesman and the Unemployment Rate under Obama…

June 2, 2011

Here is a fantastic article that shows the bias of the Lame Stream Media.  I would like to concentrate on Steve Liesman at CNBC.  I know I have written about Mr. Liesman before, but I can not resist pointing out the hypocrisy of a channel that is reporting on Business, OBJECTIVELY (I had hoped).  Below is the relevant quote.

“The concern here is that there was a lot of hurricane related with bounce back from September and a lot of construction related activity that added to jobs in October.”

Do you know when this was said??  It was in 2004, when Mr. Liesman was criticizing the Unemployment numbers under President Bush.

Hey Rick Santelli, the next time Mr. Liesman is spouting off about how much better the Unemployment numbers really are (under The One), ask him about the “bounce” that has probably occurred from the recent tornadoes that have ravaged parts of the country.  So really, the numbers would be MUCH worse without the Natural Disasters that have “saved” Obama’s economy.

Or does that only count when a Republican is in charge??

Irony??

January 4, 2011

Does anyone else find it ironic, that now that the Republicans in the House of Representatives are going to hold a vote to REPEAL ObamaCare, the only things the Democrats can talk about is Jobs?

Let me get this straight.

You, the Democrats, worked for almost 2 full years to jam ObamaCare down our, the American Public, throats against the will of a majority of us.  This is during the longest period of 9%+ unemployment in the history of the United States of America.  And now you want to say do not worry about the JOB KILLING provisions and uncertainty contained in the 2,000+ pages of a bill that NO ONE has read, worry about the economy and jobs.  Huhhhhh?

Seriously, at this point there have been 111 organizations that represent more than 1 million Americans that have been granted a waiver from complying with ObamaCare.  (UPDATE:  As of December 3, 2010:  The number has increased to 222 organizations and more than 1.5 million Americans, the HHS summary.  That is a 100% increase in the approved waivers, in 3 weeks!!)  The White House will not say how many have applied or how many are planning on applying.  So by my calculations, we have at least 111 people that have wasted spent time applying and we have at least 1 government employee reviewing the applications.  This is being generous on both counts, as I imagine that there at least 20 people in the government and at least 5 people involved in the private sector per application.  So you see, the Democrats are creating jobs!!

To the Democrats:  You have had more than 18 months of 9%+ unemployment to concentrate on jobs and the economy, and have only damaged or ignored both.  For examples, examine the off shore drilling moratorium that you have enacted, or the Obamacare fiasco that NO ONE in the world knows how it will be implemented, but most economists agree that it puts a strain on new hiring.  I suggest you sit down and learn something about how the real world, ie. not D.C., works!!

To the Republicans:  REPEAL the farce that is ObamaCare!!

I welcome any proof that the policies enacted by the Democrats, in the last two years, has created ANY jobs, not related to government.
